Interesting Car Insurance Claims
When you have to submit your car insurance claim, chances are you do not feel very amused about the situation at all. There are, however, some cases that most people would find to be quite amusing, if not even slightly out of the ordinary. Whether or not the insurance company pays out on these weird claims is another question, but they are certainly real and very odd too!
Too often, car insurance companies are faced with people complaining about lovers fights which lead to damages on their vehicles. Angered men and women around the world take baseball bats, keys and various other car torture tools to their estranged partners’ vehicles. A car that has had its paintwork scratched can cost thousands to repair, just as a car that has had a baseball bat or golf club taken to it will! Unfortunately, the angered person who damaged their partner’s vehicle will usually not take responsibility for payment to the repairs of the vehicle. Whether or not the insurance company will pay for the repairs of these damages, is another question completely. This all depends on the clauses in your insurance policy. More often than not, the victim of their angry lover has to cover the costs of repairs themselves, or alternatively, have to sue their scorned lover for the cost!
Some car insurance companies have had to deal with claims where the owner of a vehicle had their car stolen and then used in a robbery. The car is usually left damaged after the incident, as it is highly unlikely that the thieves would put effort into keeping the vehicle in good condition. They usually use the car for their hijacking or robbery, take any valuable parts from it that they can, and then dump it! This can be a tricky car insurance situation! Luckily for some, these damages may be included in the theft clause of the policy.
There have been many situations where people claim that an animal caused them to have an accident. Some people say that they had to swerve to avoid hitting an animal in the road, whilst there have even been claims of people having a rogue animal INSIDE their vehicle that have caused them to have an accident! The problem with these situations is that if there are no witnesses to prove that animal interference was the cause of accident. It is only hearsay from the driver about the incident. If you are lucky your car insurance policy will include a clause about forces of nature. Forces of nature can be taken to be unfortunate weather circumstances, and it can also sometimes stretch into hitting an animal on the road. It all depends on your policy. If you live in an area that is prone to having wild animals on the loose, you need to find out from your insurer about whether or not damages resulting from an accident involving one will be covered.
These are most certainly unusual car insurance claim situations, but they are not completely out of the ordinary either. It is always best to ensure that your coverage is adequate should anything untoward happen!
